This list isn’t going to include the myriad of mobile-only MMORPGs that run rampant through Apple’s App Store, but it will mention a few titles that are cross-platform. Yet some were, and that’s why I wanted to share with you a list today of MMOs that you can play on desktop and laptop Macs. When I did start looking into games to put on my new laptop, I found that many titles weren’t accessible on that platform. Mabinogi - I didn't enjoy this game at all, and the server seemed pretty dead, but I hear there's still a small and dedicated fanbase for this one.
It's far from finished too, being in EA, but still great fun. It's closer to Destiny, aka instanced areas with MMORPG levelling and gearing, than something like WoW. Even as someone who isn't a fan of Tolkien's universe, a few hours with the game showed me that it has a friendly community and is very wellmade.ĭead Frontier II - This one's only on Steam, but I never see it mentioned anywhere in MMO circles so I'm throwing it out here. Lord of the Rings Online - This game has been running forever and there's a good reason for that. It's very sociable with a big focus on life skills. It's one of the few F2P MMOs around with, as of yet, no P2W elements. Maplestory 2 - Technically on Steam, but the majority of players go through the Nexon Launcher it seems. These are awesome stories from the guys who gave us Dragon Age and Mass Effect, so definitely worth checking out. SWTOR - Much of the MMO content is itself gated behind a subscription, but you can play through the base game's class storylines entirely for free.
